Use Numeric Solutions' Gazetteer Tools for text-based place name search,
finding nearest known places to a geographic point, spatial modeling
and integration with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This product
consists of a database which can be populated with census data (US and/or
international), a Java Servlet web application (WAR) used for serving
spatial data over the internet, and management and analytical tools.
Currently these tools are being used by scientific organizations, oil
companies, real estate companies and software developers for: mapping,
identifying nearest known locations to a spatial point, livability modeling,
land management and value assessment, and ground-truthing.
The current distribution (Gazelle release 1.0.1) provides the following
functions:

Enter a name of a place to display the location on the map.

Map a Location: |
Enter the latitude and longitude of a location.
Example: 34.4208, -119.6972

Nearest Known Place: |
Enter the geocoordinates for the location.

Coordinate Transform: |
Enter the UTM coordinates to convert to Geocoordinates.
