John Harris

John Harris

President

John Harris is an energy and natural resource professional with a geoscience background who brings 26 years of worldwide oil and gas E&P, carbon capture and storage (CCS), experience as well as water resource management to Numeric Solutions.

John and his team are consultants and advisors to energy companies, large landowners, legal firms, financial institutions, and real estate development companies through Numeric Solutions – a company he founded after leaving Texaco, where he worked in California and Texas until 1999. Numeric Solutions, based in Ventura, California, is comprised of geoscience, engineering, regulatory and financial professionals. Over the past 26 years, John has worked on many successful projects ranging from E&P prospect generation and development, CCS feasibility studies, authoring of Class II and Class VI UIC applications for the CalGEM and EPA, reserves estimation, and energy & real estate A&D advisory projects. During this time, John has provided expert witness services, provided US Bankruptcy professional services, and has assisted several clients with startup and A&D services in the energy, water and land development industries. John has degrees from both the University of Michigan and the University of New Hampshire.

Chris Laber, P.G.

Vice President

Chris Laber is a geologist who brings 25 years of experience in water resource management and environmental-related science and engineering.

Chris has professional experience as a Geologist/Hydrogeologist, Project Manager, and Technical Program/Field Operations Manager in performing geologic, geochemical, and hydrogeologic analysis in support of environmental site characterization, soil and groundwater remediation, and groundwater basin assessments. He has been responsible for the design, management, and/or implementation of over 100 projects including environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater remediation feasibility and optimization studies, well design and installation, remediation construction projects, site geologic interpretation and conceptual model development, aquifer testing and analysis, groundwater basin analysis, monitoring and supply well installation and testing, source water vulnerability assessments, health risk assessments associated with soil gas, and third party project reviews. He has applied this expertise as a consultant/contractor to environmental remediation and water resource projects for government (DOD, DOE, CalEPA, municipal, etc) and commercial clients (major oil, semiconductor, solid waste, etc.) and has worked in the public sector as the technical lead for a groundwater management agency. Chris has degrees from both the Whittenberg University and Duke University.

Mike Jones

Mike Jones has more than 18 years experience as an investment banker, strategy consultant, equity/credit research analyst, and thought leader, with a focus on energy and industrials.

Mike leads the Numeric Solutions A&D and carbon capture and storage (CCS)-related financial assurance activities. These activities include US Bankruptcy professional services, contract structuring, and negotiation. EPA Class VI financial assurance services include risk modeling, permit authorship, cost diligence, and financial product specializations. Previously, Mike worked at Stifel Investment Banking prior focusing on private placements and M&A. He was responsible for leading transaction execution and providing financial advisory and worked on several debt and equity deals over his tenure. Mike was also a publishing research analyst as a Director at Capstone in Washington DC working on regulatory & policy investments in the energy sector, as a Vice President and lead analyst at Imperial Capital for the energy distressed/credit platform, Hapoalim as an Industrial & Energy equity analyst, and at FBR as an Infrastructure, Equity, and Commodity Senior Associate. He began his career in Accenture’s Strategy practice in San Francisco. Mike graduated from the University of Virginia in the Echols scholar program with a dual degree in Economics (Finance) and Government and received his masters degree in International Economics, Trade, and Business from American University’s School of International Service.

Vice President / Geologist

Eric White, Geologist and Vice President at Numeric Solutions LLC, has ten years of professional experience focusing on oil and gas E&P, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and groundwater projects primarily in California as well as across the US and internationally. His specialties include geologic interpretation, geologic modeling, geodatabase management, data analysis, asset evaluation, reserve estimation, and Underground Injection Control (UIC) permitting.

Eric has provided technical services to several major and independent oil and gas companies, municipal water departments, law firms, and real estate developers. Said services have included the development of geocellular reservoir models (in Petrel) for use in reservoir/aquifer simulation, as well as development planning/operations, permitting, asset retirement studies, hazard/risk assessments, reserve analysis/reporting, and economic forecasting. As part of Numeric Solutions, Eric has also provided A&D advisory services for several entities, including operators, financial institutions, and large land/mineral owners. Projects have included acquisitions and sales of small to large (>$100 MM) oil and gas assets in conventional and unconventional plays throughout the country.

Since 2019, Eric has overseen over fifty CalGEM Class II UIC project reviews. Beginning in 2022, Eric’s focus turned to Class VI UIC permitting efforts for proposed CCS projects across the country. He manages a team of interdisciplinary experts including geoscientists, engineers, and financial and regulatory specialists, performing site characterization and feasibility studies, generating plume models, and authoring Class VI UIC applications for the EPA.

Eric has a Master of Science in Geological Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Bachelor of Science with Honors from Union College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He is a licensed Professional Geologist in California and Wyoming.

Paul T. Codd

Vice President / Engineering

Paul T. Codd is a petroleum engineer with over 30 years of experience in oil and gas production, operations, and development, oil and gas asset retirement and carbon capture and storage (CCS)-related design and engineering.

Paul is a detailed and motivated operations and executive engineer with both domestic and international experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Proven skills in asset management, business development, strategic planning, and reservoir exploitation. He has extensive downhole experience with complex abandonments, horizontal drilling, completion, and production technologies to optimize both conventional and unconventional plays. More recently Paul has utilized his experience to develop CCS injection and monitoring wells and monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) systems for life cycle CCS projects. Paul is a former COO and VP Engineering of several small start-ups. Paul has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary.

Geological Operations and Analyses for Water Management and Energy

Shelby has 3 years of professional experience as a Geologist with Numeric Solutions. Shelby’s primary focus with Numeric Solutions is focused on data analyses for groundwater and surface water management projects as well as field work as it relates to field instrumentation deployment and regulatory and compliance purposes.

Shelby’s specialties include geologic data analysis for water management projects. Shelby has provided technical services to our clients in both the water management and oil and gas development industries. These services have included the deployment of ground water monitoring systems, drilling support services and geophysical data acquisition. Shelby has a Bachelor of Science in geology from the Fresno State University and a Master’s of Science degree in geology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Senior Geologist

Andrew Hillstrand is a California registered Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist that has been active in the geotechnical, environmental, and geo-construction industries since 1997. Andrew has a wide knowledge base and range of professional experience managing public works, private, municipal water, and mining projects from the planning phase to construction. Andrew is very familiar with permitting, planning, CEQA/NEPA and compliance processes. Andrew has approximately eight years of practical experience from the drilling industry, with expertise in field investigation methods for clean water, environmental, and geotechnical applications and well as environmental remediation methods and design. He is focused on assembling teams (that include clients as the key stakeholder), identifying critical paths, and moving projects forward. Andrew has a degree in Chemistry and Geology from California Lutheran University (1997) and has been a licensed geologist since 2004.

Luc Landry graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2020 with a degree in Earth Science with an emphasis in Geohydrology. He has been working with Numeric Solutions as a geoscientist for over 3 years. Luc’s primary focus with Numeric Solutions is with groundwater and surface water data analyses, field instrumentation, and data collection for water management projects. He also has knowledge in ArcGIS, database management, well installation, drilling, and supervising field operations in hydrologic instrumentation deployments and maintenance.

Adam Gordon

Adam Gordon graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 2021 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering. Adam began working with Numeric Solutions near the end 2021. Adam’s experience includes geotechnical analysis of slope stability and modeling of groundwater flow and contaminant transport. Adam’s work with Numeric Solutions focuses on installation and maintenance of field instrumentation, ArcGIS, groundwater and surface water data collection, sampling and monitoring for water management projects.

Reid Blaich

Environmental Scientist

Reid Blaich is an environmental scientist, with 7 years of experience, who offers experience in environmental permitting, EPA Class II-VI UIC permitting, CEQA/NEPA analysis, water resources management, and regulatory compliance. He has permitted a variety of projects in oil and gas, renewable energy, water resources, and restoration. Reid also has extensive field experience mainly focusing in environmental monitoring, sampling, stream channel restoration, and erosion control. His primary focus with Numeric Solutions is data collection, analysis, and regulatory compliance for water resources and energy projects. Reid has a Bachelor of Science from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Paige Billings

Petroleum Engineer

Paige Billings, with 8 years of experience, is a skilled petroleum engineer at Numeric Solutions who obtained her degree in Petroleum Engineer at the Colorado School of Mines. Paige works on projects ranging from energy-related economics and reserves forecasting, carbon capture and storage (CCS) financial assurance estimations and authoring Class VI applications for the EPA, oil and gas workover, remediation and plugging activities. Her prior experience consists of 3.5 years as a Petroleum Engineer at Noble Energy Inc. There she completed Noble Energy’s Rotational Engineering Development Programs while working in production, prospect development, and EHSR groups. Paige also worked on PHDWin and Aries project economics, revenue and production forecasting, reserves, non-op management, and international permitting.
